The population fell
sharply following the closure of the mines and the decline in
agricultural activity.
However, since 1970 there has been a steady increase, from 113
at that time to 219 in 2004.
The Council hopes to
see this tendency continue, and works constantly to encourage
new residents, by ensuring that they find a renovated
architectural heritage combined with a carefully preserved
natural environment. |

Sénéchas bee-keepers carry
their bees all over the Cévennes National Park so as to produce
typical local honey with the scent of sweet chestnut, the most
important tree, delicately-perfumed acacia or white heather.
The bees
collect from mountain to plain and produce at least ten varieties
of honey, and from an environment completely clear of any pollution,
either farming or industrial.
Pollen, royal jelly and
honey based treats of various kinds are also produced. |
