The Sénéchas library was created in 1997 by Hélène Gilles. Now the municipal library, it is housed in the magnificent 12th century priory which is also the Town Hall.

It is now a meeting place and a place for cultural exchange.

The current permanent stock is 3000 books of all kinds: novels, essays, biography, history, the arts, sciences, religion, astronomy, local interest, detective novels, graphic novels, children's books.

The stock is regularly supplemented by donations which are always welcome.

The "Rayon du soleil" team

In addition the Nîmes library service bibliobus comes every three months bringing new books of our choice, as well as material for special exhibitions. Finally, we buy some new books each year.

Apart from  the basic lending library function, we also:

- Run computer training on Wednesdays from  2 - 4 pm,

- Provide free Internet access to inhabitants of the district while the library is open,

- Do oral history work with interviews and photos with elderly members of the community,

- Organise discussion groups about books with their authors,

- Present documentary films with their makers,

- Organise exhibitions.

We invite all inhabitants of Sénéchas or elsewhere, and passing summer visitors, to come and share an event, a book, or just a  convivial moment  any Wednesday 10 - 12 and 2 - 4 pm at "La Mazade".

If you have access problems, we can come and fetch you or bring books to your home - just let us know.
