Bringing piped water to Senechas - 1964-1965

Local people from the village and scout groups from all over the world carried out the earthworks, excavating, and pipe-laying (16 km) to bring mains water from Concoules to Sénéchas, including the branch-pipes to outlying hamlets and storage tanks.

- The Inauguration -

The great event took place on August 15th 1965.

There were fine speeches.

The civil and military authorities were present.

The water flows.

- The 40th anniversary of bringing mains water to the village -

The celebration took place 41 years later, at the same time as the 30th anniversary of the Church Restoration Committee.

Solemn Mass was celebrated by Monsignor
Robert WATTEBLED, bishop of Nimes.

The church was packed.

Some Scouts had returned for the occasion, some in uniform.

There were some fine and moving speeches

The speeches were much appreciated by the assembled populace.

Everyone was invited for a drink after the ceremony. The Bishop chatting with Pierre SWAGTEN
(former scout leader) and Monique MANIFACIER (president of the Church Restoration Committee).

And the celebration continued with a magnificent feast in the Mazade building and in the open-air theatre.
